Race Notes:

·         Matt Hayek opened the season with a dramatic last lap pass and one of the closest finishes in IndySlotCar Series history. It’s Hayek second straight Trokan Cup 500 win.

·         The season opener featured 15 entries, one of the largest fields seen in series history, which contrasts with last season’s event at Bermuda Raceway, which saw just seven on the grid, promoters are hoping for more this season.

·         Dean Strom is the defending winner of the event that last season was known as the 500th IndySlotCar Grand Prix on what has previously been known as Bermuda Raceway.

·         STAT WATCH: Hayek’s fourth Trokan Cup 500 victory is the 23rd of his career, pulling even with Hall of Famer Jim Kaehny in a tie for eighth on the all-time list; it is also the 78th final moving into the top 10. Joe Heitz’s Firestone P1 Award at the Mini Mile is his 14th, elevates to 13th on the list. John Shea made his 118th career start, passing HOFer Dave Austin for 19th, while Chris Spehert passes his dad on the All-time Laps list, with 36,517, jumping to 12th.
