Trokan Cup 500 - Mini Milwaukee Mile - Greendale, WI
September 4, 2025
Round 1 of 17
Matt Hayek put on a dominant performance: fastest qualifier, most heat laps took his #15 FAST II: The Castaways Honda-Daboiler to the win, dueling with seven-time champion Mike Lack right down to the checkers to take the win, signaling he's back to form after a 2-year win drought. Mike Lack once again runs strong but falls just short of the win. John Wiedemann, despite a late crash, held tight to the final podium spot. Spehert continues his solid oval streak, while Margetta impresses with his climb up the order.
On the flip side, Pete Dorn and Steve Rist were sidelined by crashes, and Bill Black’s go-or-go-home bid ended unexpectedly in the qualifiers.

IndySlotCar Series Notes:
• The curtain rises on the 33rd IndySlotCar Series season once again at what has been the traditional opener for most of the last 20 seasons, the Mini Milwaukee Mile, Joe Heitz is the defending race winner, and Dan Margetta and Ev Kamikawa have the most wins, at four, at the HO-scale version of the local icon.
• John Wiedemann will attempt to win his third straight, fourth overall, Husarsbilt Cup championship. He joins such luminaries of the series as Larry Rotter and Jim Kaehny with three titles.
• Speaking of JW, it is still not clear what the team situation for the defending champion is, no announcement has been made public about where last year’s #11 pilot or what the line-up for the former FAST team, now split in two will be. Could this be the first time in their IndySlotCar Series careers that Wiedemann and Mike Lack are not teammates? It could be a seismic change.
• STATS WATCH: Mike Lack sits atop the all-time wins list with 56, Ev Kamikawa added five to his tally, sitting second with 52, Dan Margetta with 49. Lack matches the wins total with 56 pole positions, Margetta second with 51 and Phil Cianciola still holds third with 48, 22 years after retirement. Margetta and Kamikawa hold the top two spots in every other statistical category, followed by Mike Lack is third in Heat Wins and Finals, Mike Kristof in Starts and DNFs and John Wiedemann in Laps turned.
