IndySlotCar Series Notes:
· Joe Heitz is the defending race winner, having taken the checkers at the Deckertring’s return to the IndySlotCar schedule after a six year absence. It was the fourth win in a series record tying winning streak enroute to the Husarsbilt Cup championship.
· John Wiedemann enters the Deckertring Grand Prix fresh off his fourth win of the season at the Larry Rotter Memorial Grand Prix at Turtle Creek Park Raceway, expanding his championship points lead to 92.
· Hometown hero John Shea was the runner up last season at his home race and finished on the podium a week ago. Could he thrill the home crowd with a victory?
· STATS WATCH: Wiedemann’s win at the Rotter Memorial GP is the 37th of his career, moving him into fifth on the all-time victories list, ahead of series founder and Hall of Famer Phil Cianciola. Dean Strom scored the 25th pole position of his career, equaling John Wiedemann’s total, tied for eighth. Strom’s appearance in the final moved him into ninth on the all-time list with 85. Chris Spehert moved into 13th on the all-time laps list with 32,175, John Shea also moved up that list to 19th with 20,811. Shea also moved to a tie for 20th on the starts list with 111 with Hall of Famer Jim Iverson. James Spehert’s ninth start equals second generation driver Alex Hayek, tied for 36th. Ev Kamikawa’s DNF at Turtle Creek is the 72nd of his career pulling even with Mike Kristof, tied for second all-time. Matt Hayek moves to a tie for sixth on the DNF list with Tom Spehert, each has 36.
